Charity Fund Controversy Erupts in Aam Aadmi Party Kerala ; Alappuzha Constituency Committee to Lodge Complaint with National & State Leadership

KERALA : A major political controversy has broken out within the Alappuzha district unit of the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) regarding a charity fund drive conducted under an organization named 'Alivu'. The Alappuzha Constituency Committee has leveled serious allegations against the district leadership and the State Secretary Naveenji Nadamoni, claiming they authorized an illegal fundraising scheme based on a 'Lucky Draw' model, collecting lakhs of rupees.

The volunteers pointed out the irony of such corruption allegations emerging within a party that rose to power by fighting graft. They highlighted that conducting lottery-model coupon sales for fundraising is a direct violation of Section 297 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita ( BNS ).

AAP Ambalappuzha Constituency Secretary, Subhash, specifically alleged that District President Rameshan Pandishery received a commission from the illegal coupon sales.

In protest against these financial irregularities, the Constituency Committee has demanded the immediate resignation of the accused district leaders and the State Secretary. They have also decided to submit a formal complaint to both the State and National leadership of the party.

The controversy has escalated with protest posters appearing against the leadership near the Alappuzha Collectorate premises. Coming at a time when elections are around the corner, these allegations have dealt a significant blow to the party's image. The Constituency Committee has maintained that they will continue their agitation until strict action is taken against the leaders who allegedly misappropriated public funds.
